1.2.3 Scream

Concept & Community Impact

1.2.3 Scream—a playful nod to “lights, camera, action”—marked the beginning of my motion graphics journey, with a vibrant, energetic animation featuring Watson, the peacock mascot of the College for Creative Studies. The goal was to motivate and celebrate our creative community by combining evolving patterns and dynamic neon line work.

The flowing, transforming lines were designed to capture the energy of creative expression, reflecting how artists bring their passions to life in bold, personal ways. The final concept was intended as an interactive projection installation—displayed on a glass surface, allowing visitors to walk around, pose, and engage with the glowing motion graphic in real time.

Design Process & Animation Development

The core challenge of the project was to create a moving neon light effect that felt lively and dimensional, even when projected onto a flat, transparent surface. I began with exploration sketches of peacocks, experimenting with different poses and simplifying the form into clean, continuous line work that would mimic neon tubing.

format.
